I am in a process to migrate AREV to Universe RDBMS. I have done the " mkutil" command to copy files from CD to diskette. But when after running the command RUN DOS A:INSTALL on an AREV account and run the UVEXPORT command, it seems the command is not recognized. Is it being copied and cataloged to the AREV account? Anybody has the experience on this, please reply. Thanks.

Might this not be better asked in a Universe Forum?

I am very familure with UniVerse and with AREV. I have never used the "UVEXPORT" program. I have migrated customers from AREV to UniVerse. I currently have customers using AREV and UniVerse.

Ok, I was able to create the floppy disk (with a bit of agony). When I ran the "RUN DOS A:INSTALL", here is what I found.

1) It tried to use a "COPY" command. I typed in a "COPYROW" command.

2) It tried to copy the "$UVEXPORT.B" object code program to the "VERBS" file. I changed "VERBS" to "OBJECT" (that is my run program file). Install completed successfully.

3) I ran the program "RUN OBJECT UVEXPORT.B" it started and the first prompt was "Do any of the files you have specified for export contain BASIC program code? (Y/N)"

That is as far as I went.

So if you replace the "OBJECT" with your run code file name (might even be "VERBS"), and you make sure you are running the program "UVEXPORT.B" it should work.

By the way… I am running AREV version 3.1 and I have no "VERBS" file. It is called "SYSOBJ" now.

I've done it the other way round lots of times using a brilliant product called A/Share. Can't think why anyone would want to go the other way though.
