We have a client that wants to extract their data from QuickBooks 2001. Unfortunately, QuickBooks provides only very limited exporting capabilities and has virtually no way to export transactions (which is what we really want). Has anybody done this or know of a way to get at this data?

OfficeQ at http://www.datablox.com/ sounds interesting.
Described at aspstreet.com as:
"The first and only product available that can extract ALL accounting data from QuickBooks® files - including all transactions, inventory, and payroll information. Includes support for both single user and multi-user files. U.S. versions 4, 5, 6, 99, 2000 and 2001 as well as Canadian versions 5 and 6 are supported. Designed as a general purpose open tool kit, OfficeQ makes a trivial task out of extracting QuickBooks® data and processing it with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Visual Basic, Visio, etc. or other business programs containing embedded VBA. We also have an ActiveX DLL available that makes QuickBooks® data to any programming environment supporting ActiveX DLLs."
I'm only a QuickBooks user. No experience in extracting data.

The Quickbooks SDK is XML. I haven't tried it myself, but I looked at it.
