I have a form with 2 editline controls that the users would like to

use diacritical,italics,bold or underlines.

I know if I check the rtf option I can display but what about giving the users buttons or menu options.

What is the best way? Should/can I do this programmatically (be nice)? Looking for suggestions? I did search the this discussion base and did not come up with many ideas.

Bruce,

This depends on whether you want to have selective text appear with different properties or if the entire control can have the same look. If the latter then you'll have to use the RTF control and create a relatively complex routine to manage this programmatically (assuming you want to work it this way.) If the control can have the same look for all text then simply change the FONT property.

Don,

No, unfortunately they would like selective text.

I will get busy on it….

As for diacritical… what's the deal on that; me being an old 'green' screener, english only.

(Dealing with a table with names from all over the world).

Thanks once again Don.

Bruce,

Forget about diacriticals. The RTF edit box can only handle 7-bit characters, i.e, plain old ASCII. If you have an appetite for changing other people's C programs you can try to mend it. The source is available to Works members.
