In Openinsight we defined the collumn type for some collumns that had previously been un-typed in a table that has it's application in AREV.

Now when we try to access the table we get the error message:

"XQ_MFS" cannot be executed

because it cannot be found.

When I do listcollumn for the table it shows XQ_MFS in the MFS collumn.

What is XQ_MFS and how do I get AREV and Openinsight to access the table again?

XQ_MFS is some code written for OI not supplied with the native AREV filing system. There are technical bulletins which discuss how to install and remove an MFS. One option is to attach and then edit the REVMEDIA file in the correct volume from the SYSPROG account. You then remove the XQ_MFS reference from the REVMEDIA entry for your table. The problem may be that the table with the OI XQ_MFS routine in it is not accessible from AREV, has been removed or is somehow detached.

In addition to what my fellow Sprezzicle has to say, be careful when dealing with XQ_MFS. This is the MFS the system places on the system to handle the data warehousing items.

See Data Warehousing: Updates-Only Feature for Runtime Systems for some information on the data warehousing MFS.

You also might want to read Modifying Filing System (MFS) for more information on working with an MFS.
