Arev 2.12 cannot attach file(s) (AREV Specific)

A client moved our entire package from a 486 to a Pentium. They copied the entire structure of the root directory with all the control files as well as the subdirectories with the data files.
Since the move they have had several index errors (many more than ususal) and have been able to rebuild the indexes.
Today they received and error 'DICT.APL is not available'. LISTVOL shows both the dictionary and the data file. ATTACH of the volume and ATTACH of the individual file do not help.
LIST APL comes up empty.
LIST APL F1 F2 shows data (F1 and F2 being defined in Dict.voc – I don't recall if they were ARev supplied or added)
I recall having a problem like this ages ago but I cannot recal how to solve it.
They are working on a 3-user Windows-for-workgroups 3.1x system and have had no major problems for at least two years.
Any suggestions?

Moved to a Pentium, eh? Ok, if you're on Windows (any version), disable cacheing (sp?) and if you still get indexing errors, disable cacheing on the Pentium; that should take care of that problem.
As for not being able to list the file, you probably (almost certainly) have an index on that file, and if the index is corrupt, then LISTVOL and LISTFILES will show the files, but you can't access them.
You need to remove ALL indexes from that file and then re-attach the volume where it lives, then reinstall the indexes - problem solved.
BTW, it would help to post what version of AREV you're running and what network driver you're using; also, if applicable, what processor and speed(!) you have and what version of DOS, Windows and/or Novell you're using. (I wish the AREV version and OS were part of the required fields both here and on my site - I'm working on that but FrontPage is pretty hard to modify when using the Discussion Wizard).
Hope that helps.

Everything's the exact same tree, mapped to the same place? No changes? Are there any MFS's or something like that? Is the original system still in place? Maybe the copy didn't take very well and there were some corruptions. Have you verified that the files exist on the DOS level?
