We are utilizing AREV as a database redirector for an application called IDEAS. Currently the AREV application is prompting us for a password, it seems that the password was set inadvertantly by a user and now our only option is to restore the AREV directory.
Anyone know how to remove the password? Thanks.

Questions of these sorts are best answered by Revelation Software directly. They can be reached at (800) 262-4747 or (978) 247-7100 in North America, +44 1908 233 255 in the UK or +61 2 9513 8889 in Australia.
Obviously publicly explaining how to bypass passwords has serious security concerns and should not be posted. Revelation has ways of proving you have the required authorisation.
Sorry to be unable to help, but some things are out of the community's hands.

Besides, it may be security application itself and not ARev that is asking for a password and resetting/clearing the account/application/user password in ARev may not solve the problem.
Check with the IDEAS vendor/developer.

We called the helpdesk and since the ver. is so old, they have no resolution. We have a passeord to use to get our users working, but rather thatn restore from backup which would take a lot of time & rescources (down time) we would prefer to be able to reset it to no password. We have an app called Ideas that sits on it. Nobody here has much info on AREV as this is a rather old app that is in the process of being phased out, but customer serveice and all.

You can always just restore the system file. But only if the password in question is indeed for an ARev account/application/user. If IDEAS has its own security password system we can't help you without reverse engineering that part of IDEAS. Contact the vendor/developer of IDEAS.
