Looking into migrating from Novell 3.x to 5.x or 6.x. Currently using the v1.5 NLM.

Main concern are what pitfalls there are in upgrading. Area of concern is printing. In the past upgrading would 'break' the calls to CAPTURE etc usually due to the EXEs getting too big to shell to these commands. Another is migrating user groups and security/trustee rights smoothly.

Any thoughts, advice, anecdotes would be appreciated.

My advice is - to migrate! You'll lose nothing.

You may have to get NLM 5 or 5.5 whatever the version is at.

All the best.

Hi

it's 6.x you'll be heading towards.

We are in the process of defining the upgrade path to take our system from 4.10 to 6x (for us this means hardware and software). I'll write up information of note and post it…

Thanks.

I'm still concerned about the bindery to NDS conversion and functionality of spooler/print jobs/forms etc. but any input is welcome.

Yes, it's a very right remark!

And price for upgrade can't be called too large.
