I have a form that's bound to a OI table that won't write the row.

It used to write but now it won't. (It has a menu item Save with the

quick event "write the row")

Because it doesn't wirte the "SEQKEY" doesn't increment which alerted me to the problem.

Everything I know of to check has been looked at. I created another form for this table and it works fine. Have checked for GFE's and found none. Added a button to "save" and got the same response.

Put a "debug" in for this and can see no problems except that the

"record" looks to be null even though data is in the form.

Anybody else ever have this problem??

Did you put the debug in the WRITE event to see if that at least is getting fired? Try that and make sure you return a "1" so that the process gets completed. If this forces the form to write then remove the WRITE event and check again. I'm just wondering if a rogue WRITE event exists that is returning a "0" instead. This should (hopefully) replace it and when you remove this new WRITE event the event chaining should return to normal.

Don thanks for responding;

I tried the RETURN 1 after the debug for the form wirte event.

Now I get the "Data Validation -Error Data is required control may not

be skipped!". The only value that is required on the form is the

item id field code.

Strange?

Go to the outliner, find the form executable in the outline, and select Relationships from the Entity menu. What events are on the form? Which of those are new or have been changed? I am almost certain from your description that you have added/changed/return-0'd from an event.

Re:Go to outliner …

I did do that and checked the events for the form.

I haved checked all that "I" know of and I know my depth is close to the surface. Any more specifics I can check?

I did have some code for an edittable that popped up a popup then returns the selection to the col/row; that was not working. I did not write the code and moved it from the "option" event to the "dblclick" event, and now it works fine. Help..

Hil Cameron,

I did what you suggested and found nothing in any event that I changed. I did find some code that needed to have the correct

edittbl variable name and to clear it out of the "option" event and

into the "dblclick" event. (It launchs a popup when dblclicked on

a col in a Et and returns the selected value to that col&row).

Soooo.. I created a new form and systematically copied/pasted controls onto the new one trying to isolate the "culprit".

No culprit! but I now have a form that works properly. add twilight zone music..

Thanks

Where does one find the 'Outline'?

Rosalie,

Go to the Application Manager. The entities are listed in the

view box to your right. (The red, blue, green, pink noted things)

Then the Entities menu selection which is the second option on the

menu bar of the app. mgr. is what he was referring to…

PS. Cameron. I don't know why my response(s) to your response did not get posted but I got around the problem by creating a new form and copy and pasting controls. All made it and the form works.

Those are the worst. If you can reproduce it … we can fix it. Please check out, zip up, and send the not-working form (if you didn't can it already) to jtd@revelation.com and let him know it is related to a bug reported on this discussion database.
