We run AREV 3.12 Win 98 workstation on NT4 server and are having difficulty fixing a GFE in group 0 on one of our main files. Network driver has been set to "Non Networking" to attempt the fix, however to no avail. Please HELP.

Group 0 GFEs are bad. In my experience they cannot be fixed. About the only thing I've found that works (occassionally) is to create a junk or temp table, run a select on the bad table, copy as many rows as possible to the temp table, clearfile the bad table (this will fix the GFE but destroy all the records), and then copy the records from the temp table back into the main table.

It's a long and tedious process and it doesn't always work. However, I'm not brave enough to start manually editing file and group headers.

Best of Luck,

Matt, thanks for you thoughts and imput on this problem. Fortunately in consultation with our IT people in the States and support with our programmer in Australia we were able to restore a resent backup, and suffered fairly minimal data lose.
