Twas the night before Chanuka, Boychics and Maidels

Twas the night before Chanuka, Boychics and Maidels

Not a sound could be heard, not even the dreidels.

The menorah was set by the chimney alight

While in kitchen the Bubbie was choppin a bite

Salami, pastrami, a glusele tay

Mit zoyera pickles and bagels - oy vey!

Gezunt and geshmock the kinderlach felt

While dreaming of taiglach and Chanukah gelt.

The alarm clock was sitting, a kloping and ticking

While the Bubbie was carving a shtickele chicken.

A tummel arose like the wildest kduchas

Santa had fallen right on his tuchas!

I put on my slippers, ein tzvie, drei

While the Bubbie was eating herring on rye.

I put on my bathrobe and buttoned my gotkes

While Bubbie was just devouring the latkes.

To the window I ran and to my surprise

A little red yarmulke greeted my eyes!

Then he got to the door and saw the menorah

    "Yiddishe kinder," he cried, "Kenahora!"

"I thought I was in a goyishe hoise

As long as I'm here I'll leave a few toys."

"Come into the kitchen I'll give you a dish

    A gupel, a leffel, a shtickele fish."

With smacks of delight he started his fressen

Chopped liver, knaidlach and kreplach gegessen.

Along with his meal he had a few schnapps

When it comes to eating, this fellow is tops!

He asked for some knishes with feffer and zaltz

By they were to hot and he yelled "Oy gevalt!"

He loosened his hoisen as he ran from the tish

"Your koshereh meals are simply delish!"

As he went through the door he said "See you later

I?ll be back next Pesah, in time for the seder."

So chutzmir and zeitzmir and bleibt nir gezun"

He called out cheerily into the wind,

More rapid than eagles his prancers they came,

As he whistled and shouted and called them by name

"Come Izzie! Now Moishe! Now Yussel and Sammy!"

On Duveed and Maxie and Hymie and Manny!"

He gave a geshrai as he drove out of sight

"A gut yum tov to all and to all a good night

T'was some time before Christmas,

(As December goes),

When Santa encountered

Some database woes,

The children expecting

Nocturnal delight

While Santa experienced

Globalized flight

Santa's large list

(Which was on SQL)

Encountered some errors

He couldn't dispel

He ran out of memory

For some stored procedure

(And everyone knows where such

problems can lead ya!)

Come disk space!

Come RAM space!

Come CD!

Come Zips!

Come motherboard!

BIOS!

And updated chips!

In spite of a Pentium

Near to meltdown

His SQL database

Caused him to frown

"It's normalized funny!"

"It's subject to stress!"

"And when will this finish?"

"I simply can't guess!"

So Santa, perturbed

By slowness of bus

Decided his print run

Was quite serious

He needed to finish

his toy list - at least a

straight listing was needed

(some time before Easter!)

He looked at one sack

and he started to cry!

Some tears of delight!

HE'D DISCOVERED - OI!

"This looks like a miracle!"

Santa then cried

as he read through the manual

Features he spied!

He looked at performance

And normalized data

And then he turned into

an SQL hater!

He ported his app. in a

couple of days,

And soon had amended

Those SQL ways

Come presents,

Come wrappings,

Come reindeer,

Come elves!

Come hither,

Come yon,

But don't come

By yourselves!

Come look at my listing!

For all to espy!

I've done it!

My schedule!

- straight out of OI!

And Santa was happy!

- his miracle's essence

this Christmas, was OI

The neatest of presents!

So think of your very next

Christmas delight!
