We are experiencing an access violation error when trying to use the report writer. The specific error message is a typical MicroSoft generic OINSIGHT caused and access violation in OINSIGHT]EXE at 0x006f0069. We have reinstalled three times. Can anyone help?

Can you be a bit more specific when you get the error? What you are doing when the error occurs? I can search our bugs database and see if anything comes up, but I'll have to know more specific details about your issue before searching.

The error occurs once I have designed the report and try to execute the query. From what I understand OI tables are related through inner joins, and there are common columns within each table that are xref's. I don't have a data map of the vendor application I am using (TL Creates), but the query is to a single table selecting information from four of the columns. I have no problems selecting the columns, creating the report, saving, etc. But no matter what criteria I have selected the app fails when I try to run the report. We have a number of "canned" reports that came with the vendor app that function properly, it is just using the writer tool that is a problem.

The reporter can be really quirky sometimes. Many times, reporter errors come from printer driver settings, which are stored inside the report definition. Try changing the active printer to a basic text printer and see if that helps.
