We have an edit table that is displaying multivalued fields. Ok - no problem there.

However, if we try to change any field in that table, it will allow us to reenter the complete data, but not make changes to existing text, etc. (We can delete everything and retype it)

We want to be able to correct typos, miskeyed info, etc., without having to reenter the entire data.

How can this be done?

Just a side note - If we press F4 we get a message to the effect of "locked may not be modified".

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Andy-

When you're in the cell in an EditTable, press the F2 key. This is the edit toggle key.

Hope it helps-

Andy,

If you want your edit table cells to be in edit mode instead of overwrite mode already at entry time, and not have to press F2, you can use the EditCell function.

Mike knows about EditCell. Perhaps he doesn't think you're ready for it. But I'll tell you anyway. :-)

You can find the source and docs for EditCell in this KB article.

You can find an example of its use in this posting of mine.

You can find other relevant postings by doing a Site Search on EditCell.

Good luck!

I have looked thru the stored procedures in sysprog for EDITCELL and have not found it anywhere.

I have an EDITFIND but that's it.

Am I in the wrong place???

Go to Oystein's post and you'll find a link to a Knowledge Base article which contains the source for EditCell. I suggest that you cut and paste the source into Notepad. Then make a new stored procedure in SYSPROG for EditCell. Grab your notepad, select all and Copy/Paste into your stored procedure. Compile it. You should then be able to inherit it in your app.

I have used this routine along with Oystein's handlers ever since I found it. Really neat ..
