Can I do the following:

Import a mailing list into my customer base, using a specific source code?

If so, how can a "dummie" like me acheive this goal?

The answer is yes, but what do you mean by "specific source code?" I do mailing lists all week long as well as imports & exports to/from various other packages.

Arev's "from the menus" support is rather weak, but the language support is very strong. Chances are high that a simple program gets written.

I write Rbasic routines to handle imports. That way, I can screen data for unwanted or wrong records and read files exceeding Arev's 64k size limit. Try to get the data into ASCII format with delimiters separating fields or fixed field length. Then, convert carriage returns + line feeds to @fm and the delimiters to @vm. Arrange the imported fields according to the Arev data dict's order and import.

On the other hand, if you want to pay me, I can write the routine.

Good luck!

If your data can be put in dBase or Lotus format you can use AREV's import feature for those apps. You'll need set up a table to receive the data unless you really want to import it directly into you customer base.

If your data is in ASCII then you might still be able to get it into a Lotus format via any good spreadsheet app.

For fixed ASCII files you have one other alternative. If you have access to the Compuserve Revelation forum, there is a download that contains a decent upload/download utility where you set up layout maps for your files and download them into AREV. It even has the source code if you're keen to learn some coding.

I don't understand what you mean by 'specific source code'.

Hope this helps.
