New win2000 on existing Novell 5 gives FS477 (Networking Products)

A Client is running a small AREV network on Novell 5 with NLM 5.1
The network also has NT server.
Existing Win98 have been running for years.
One workstation has been upgraded to Win2000 to host some application specific programs and now Arev 2.12 gives FS477.
In DOS the LHIPXTSR /P seems to connect ok.
The AREV command gives
"Linear Hash IPX driver - RevMedia Open Error 477 -Revparam file specific server only access mode"I have spent time searching the discussions and no luck.
Anybody with a "magic bullet" solution??
Novell client upgraded to 4.83, Frame type forced to 802.2, protocol forced to IPX, file handles set to 200,
I have run out of things to twiddle.
I would appreciate assistance if you have experience in this area.

Ted,
You do not mention this specifically, but do you have revparam files with 'ServerOnly=1' in all the Arev subdirectories?
On the Novell client, do you have IPX as the preferred protocol?

Hi Kevin
1 - Revboot has REVPARAM SERVERONLY=TRUE
2 - Novell Client for Windows 2000 v4.83
has Preferred Network=IPX
The AREV command immediately gives 477 error
If REVPARAM is removed in \AREV dir then
AREV starts up but gives splash msg that network is not responding.
There are Protocol components that are all flagged (highlighed?)
1- Bindery, 2- NDS, 3-SAP
Do these have any impact on the issue?
It seems that the lhipxtsr is not connecting properly.

Ted,
I have a client that was in similar situation to you - running Novell 5.1 + Win98 Workstations with Arev 2.12 + NLM.
We avoided the Win2000 environment because of known issues. But eventually bit the bullet about April with a win2000 pc + client 4.83. Fortunately a new Novell patch had just been released - and on testing found dramatic effect - such that performance was indestinguishable with our suscessful win98 environment.
So while this may not directly resolve your problems I refer you two two important issues: Novell VIPX.exe fix and autoexec.nt
The VIPX.exe can be downloaded from the Novell web site (Novell Client 4.83 - Application software performance is slow - Last modified: 09MAY2002)

Issue
IPX-dependant applications such as Advanced Revelation Opensight and Advantage Clipper RDD run significantly slower with the Novell 4.80 SP3 or later clients than on earlier Novell clients.
In some cases, performance differences occur between NT4 and Windows 2000, but this patch applies to all NT/W2K/XP platforms.

Also Don Lindbergh draws attention to bugs in Novell / Microsoft install proceedures resulting in defective autoexec.nt file
He also refers to a Novell TID

Thanks for the info.
I am relaying it to the client immediately.
I will post results when we again tackle the problem.
This may be in a week or 2.
