Edit forms in Runtime (AREV Specific)

This might be a really dumb question.
I have a runtime version of AREV so I don't have access to Paint. The runtime version merges data with predefined form templates to produce printed forms.
Since I don't have Paint I can't create or modify the form templates easily, but I can edit them manually in the TCL window. I have successfully edited the text of the templates but all of the attribute information (fonts, typesize, boldface, etc.) is encoded in a way I don't understand, although I have figured out by poking around which characters are delimiters and which are not.
Is there a way to modify forms including attribute information in Edit, or am I really just stuck because I don't have Paint or Paintform?

Am I being really dumb, or couldn't you just save yourself a whole pile of grief by buying yourself a development system? They are still available⦠and even better everyone would love you for putting funds into the coffers of a company we all loveā¦.

Alas, that is not an option. I'd love to have a development version and fool with it (maybe even port the runtime application I bought to it), but at the moment I can't even afford a $299.00 word processing application.
Maybe someday . . .
