It appears as though you can't install an upgrade directly from a CD-ROM (read only files…). Does this mean that it is necessary to write a script to copy the data and remove the read-only attribute from the files?? If so, bummer.

Have you tried setting the ReadOnly parameter in the REVPARAM file in the upgrade directory on the CD?

I honestly didn't think about it. When the size of an upgrade gets bigger than a diskette, I just burn a CD that contains the contents of the UPGRADE directory. The problem is that you can't make an upgrade if there's anything in the upgrade directory (INCLUDING A REVPARAM file), so somebody has to remember to put one there which will contain the right parameter. I guess that I'm wondering about why RDKINSTALL has to have write access to the directory at all. Given that the most common way to deploy windows software is on CD's, there seems to be an unnecessary step here. Maybe something for RTI to think about.
