I have an AREV1.1 application under which I have two databases (volumes) running on the network. Two things I need help with

1 - how can I find out what is the max number of users allowed? And how can I increase it?

2 - Suppose I have 8 users license and I have 4 users attaching to one volume and 5 users attaching to another volume, am I exceeding the max number? I think that would be the case (unless user # is per volume).

1. From within ARev application, hitting the F5 key should(assuming that the developer didn't change this) bring up the TCL window. Typing WHO should give you system information, including # licensed users.

2. User licenses are tied directly to AREV.EXE, so 8 sessions of ARev may be run ('sessions' because one user may run multiple sessions).

Getting the maximum # of user licenses is availale from the TCL command via the WHO command. Addiing additional user licenses requires purchasing them from RTI (or someone else). Since you are using AREV 1.1, this might be problematical since I'm not sure that there are any bump disks currently available for this release but RTI can tell you that. If it were me, I'd upgrade to AREV 2.12 (as a minimum) since you get EMS support and a much more stable run-time environment. Even better is 3.12, although this will require much more work than a 2.12 upgrade.

RTI's licenses apply against the AREV.EXE and not the databases being used. In other words 4 users in one APP and 5 users in another one using the same .EXE will give 9 users. If you have an 8 user license you'll get the Max # of users exceeded message.
