Copy Entity problems (OpenInsight 32-bit Specific)

I tried the "entity" "copy" to copy an "openinsight form" from one application to another. I select the application, I select the form, I enter the "new identity", and when I click "copy" nothing seems to happen. And the form is not copied.
I searched this message board and noticed that this same problem was noted way back in 1998 and 1996. Does this item work, and I am executing it wrong? Or is it still not working correctly?

The entity copying functions do not work as they ought to. In fact several areas of the Repository function were started and not quite finished. As the Repository function was never realy talked about this went unnoticed for the most part. This particular failure is one of the more annoying ones.

I met this sort of problem a few times.
As I recollect …
There is a note somewhere in the system/docs that entity copying is related to app hierarchy. If the conditions are right it works. If not it simply does nothing. Big nuisance as I often want to copy perfectly legitimately outside this rule.
I therefore just set up a dummy (blank screen or whatever - top get the repo entries set up) and then use dear old ARev to do the copy (suppose I could/should use SysEd Exec: line). Then go back and compile. No problems with hierarchy.

Yep… This repository stuff is kinda cute, and it is quite flawed. It is also quite annoying. This work around only took me 4 hours, plus the very quite slow process of compiling "one at a time" (which was quicker than creating a program to select and compile).
Other database products allow for "file pointers". Then all you have to do is "select" the items to be copied over and simply use a "COPY" command that works off an active select list. Also the compile command works off an active select list.
Constructive info here. Suggesting some enhancements, and direction on some things that have been broken for some time.
Also… I think the "TCOPY" help is in error. The syntax statement sample shows as…
retval=Repository('TCOPY', entID, destination, source)
Is the "entID" argument suppose to be there??? It is mighty confusing to me.

Richard,
Two comments -
re
1) Help: I know that Ira Krakow (ikrakow_1999@yahoo.com)is keen to get any comments, constructive suggestion / corrections that would assist in improving the Help Documentation. This is where the Rev Community can help itself - the more input Ira gets, the better our documentation will be. There is still some gaps but he is doing a tremendous job in improving documentation.
2) Incomplete / Inoperatable Code. As you and Sprez have identified, at the margins, we sometimes stumble across issues of incomplete code. Great ideas from a number of years ago (or perhaps good intentions) that got set aside, overlooked, diverted or whatever. Mike has done a fantastic job in getting development back on track and I certainly have found him very responsive to comment and suggestions. Particularly, I recognise that not all my half-baked ideas, dreamed up at 1am in the morning, will be actioned. Further, some observations that have merit will be weighed up against the expectations of an entrenched body of users and other development priorities. I do know that good points are taken on board, and if possible, speedily implimented.
