Hope some one can guide me in the right direction. I have a client who is running 2 Arev 3.x database on one NT server (using NPP/NT Server package). Both AREV's have their own unique Serial Number (albeit they are only 1 number apart), Setup A is set for 6 user while Setup B is set for 5 users (both done with separate Lan Disks).

The problem is that the client is up and running Setup A along with 4 other users from their PC's. Then on the same original machine, the user trys to log in to Setup B and gets the 'Too Many Users' error and gets kicked out. If this same user Logs off Setup A, then tries to get into Setup B, they can log on. Then the User can log back on to Setup A.

To me, what seems to be happening is that some type of crossover between the 2 exe's and their user locks. When there are 5 Users on Setup A, someone tries to get on to B, which is only bumped for 5 so it doesn't allow it (even though there are actually no users logged on to the set up or that Serial Number). But when there are only 4 users on setup A, the user can log on to Setup B (making total 5), then can alos relog back into Setup A (because its Arev.exe is set for max 6 users).

I know this is supposed to be a problem if both apps have the same serial number, but I'm kinda stumped at this point. Any hints or help out there as to how to get around this (separate servers is not an option). Thanks in advance!!

Try mapping the applications to separate drives, and

see if that works (ie. app A on L: and app B on M:)

I think you might have to talk with Revelation and have them run some tests. What you are experiencing should not be possible based on how the user lock count is determined. Are you really sure the serial numbers are the not same?

RTI should be able to cut the appropriate EXE serial numbers internally and run some tests. However, you'd be best talking to them directly.

Their support numbers are (978) 946-7100 or (800) 262-4747.

Thats exactly what I thought, it should not be possible from what I know. But they are indeed different serial numbers. I try the call after I try Steve's thoughts.
