Having bypassed the Arev 3.12 indexing routines for many years, I recently added some Btree indexing to several files on single user systems. Without exception all the machines with indexing generate GFE's on the indexing files, normally within 24 hours. The indexes are created using the INDEXING menu, most machines are brand new, all machines use either Win98 or NT 4.0 Workstation. Is this a standard problem with indexes?????, or have I set up the indexes incorrectly.

Any thoughts or assistance would be appreciated.

Is there the possibility that you are running multiple AREV sessions at the single user workstation?

My guess is none of the above. I suspect you are running into a caching issue. Or perhaps your session is occasionally abending during index processing. Do you make sure you gracefully exit Arev before shutting down?

Always ensure correct exits from any Arev session.

Always were possible turn all cacheing OFF.

No multiple Arev sessions open at any time.

Is there perhaps a limit to the size of records in the indexing file.??

Thanks Ray
