I was hoping for some advice from the community here at revelation regarding other users experiences moving their Advanced Revelation application from a Novell File Server to a Windows 2000 Server.

The application currently runs off a Netware 3.12 server, running the NLM 1.5a, with approximately 20 or fewer clients connecting. We run large batch jobs, and have found issues when client workstations are not optimally configured for Expanded Memory.

Our initial approach is to implement is to configure a Windows 2000 Server running Revelation Windows 2000 2.1 Service, and upgrade the application driver from NLM 1.5a to All Network Drivers 2.1. One of the concerns is the impact in performance that may be associated with this move. The following knowledgebase document mentions a performance degradation when moving from the NLM to the Windows 2000 2.1 Service.

I was hoping that other users could provide their experiences.

Thanks in advance!

Recently upgraded Arev 2.12 from Novell to a windows server utilizing the Universal Driver. 50+ users and the performance is a little faster, mainly due to better hardware for the windows server. Our sort file default location still resides on the Novell server and I expect a major performance increase once Novell is retired.

Why not have the sort file location be on a local hard drive?

Security. Users local hard drives are locked down. Data must reside on a secure server.
