Cameron,

Part of the problem I have is that when I go into form builder to start to build something that I can use to query the table, I can access the table I want but only one feild comes up "REC_NO". Is this

unrecoverable or is there something I can do to create new fields for querying. The table has been imported from excel using a delimited text file.

Thanks for any help.

Pete

Pete,

It sounds as if you do not have a dictionary yet defined … yes?

Go into table builder and see if this is the case.

David,

You were right. Now can I just put the feilds into a dictionary? Will I need to import the data from excel again? How do I link the data to the new dictionary so that each feild corresponds to the correct data?

Pete,

Just leave your data where it is in the OI table. no need to import it

again unless you want to change the field order. To " link the data to the new dictionary so that each feild corresponds to the correct data"

simply go to the table builder, open the table you imported the excel data into, and name the fields. You can come back and rename the fields if necessary… changing the Dictionary field names at this point should have no effect on your data table.
