Could someone please advise how to insert a graphic and have that graphic update automatically when the source (graphic) file is deleted and replaced with one of the same name? My client has tried OLE (Insert|Object) but the image is not updated automatically when the file is replaced.

Hello Alex,
When you insert something in the Reporter you have the option to create a link to the file. Select this option, therefore when the file changes the updates will be reflected.
Good Luck!

so far as I can see the option to link the object has always been checked and disabled (like the "Create new object", despite the documentation). The client can update the graphic using the source documents' editor (so there is a link) but if the file is replaced the link seems to break.
The windows documentation I have read seems to indicate the destination object (report graphic) keeps the source documents' file name as the link information. If this were the case then replacing the file (as opposed to editing it) should still cause the report to update, but it doesn't.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hey Alex,
What I can do is to take a look through the fixes in the Reporter which will be shipped in the next release. I'll let you know what I find. Either way I will continue to work with you on this.
Thanks again…

Hi Blaise,
We have been through the same process and would appreciate an e-mail if you manage to resolve this problem.
Thank you

Following on from Alex's comments, I have found the same problem with the automatic link option for objects in the reporter.
I have tried editing graphics in both Corel Draw and Paint that are objects in my reports. The automatic link does not work, however, if you click on the manual update button in the edit-]links menu of the reporter, the link will update, or if you double click on the object in the reporter to edit it, the link will also update. If you dont save the report after performing either of these operations, the object will revert to its previous version.
If as it seems, the automatic linking is not working, does anybody know if it is possible to use the same code that lies behind the manual link button to perform the update before printing the report.
Better still, does anyone know of a way to change a graphic in a report programmatically, without using OLE.
