Oystein, I notice you sometimes mention the piece of music that you were listening to when you posted a message. If you're anything like me, listening to music whilst programming is about as important as a keyboard or mouse. Thanks to the internet, I have solved the infernal problem of having too small a music collection and too many advert & news breaks on the radio.
You can download a piece of software which allows you to set up your own Radio Station and listen to the type of music you like from their music collection.
Absolutely brilliant. Caters for any type of music from classical forward.
Only catch is you are constantly online while the music is playing. Depending on whether you have a fixed rate connection (which I do), this is an excellent option.

Ladytron are from Liverpool. They hit the scene about a year ago when they released the single "He Took Her To A Movie." NME picked it as single of the week, as they did their next single "Playgirl." Soon there was a bidding war and international interest. They were signed to Emperor Norton a few months ago. Their first EP "Commodore Rock" was released this summer. Now they just released their first album, 604, last month. I have heard it and it's an amazing record. It expands upon their singles and has many instrumental tracks, showcasing the full palate of their sound. I met Daniel Hunt in New York City during CMJ. I was disappointed that they didn't play, we will have to wait a few months for that. Others members are Reuben, Mira, and Helena.

Kraftwerk were too detached and ironic for me. I found a weird and wonderful alternative in the Yellow Magic Orchestra from Japan. But I'll freely admit I owe Kraftwerk a lot. Kraftwerk and other electronic pioneers influenced so many other great artists, and laid the groundwork for the dance/electronica revolution in popular music.
I liked Joy Division but not New Order. Too clean. Too serious.
Laurie Anderson was great. I saw her live once. Does she still make records?
