Our checkout program isn't working. Whenever we try to check something out (whether it is a form, a stored procedure, source or executable) we get the same error messages: "No entity selected for check-out." We've tried rebooting OI and Windows. Rev tech support suggested logging in as the same name as the application and doing it. We did this, but it still didn't work. We also tried logging in as SYSPROG, but that didn't work either.

Any fixes or suggestions for this problem?

Ivan,

Have you used check-out before and had it working? If yes, what exactly have you tried?

If not, I think that you are missing selection of the 'entity' button. This button must be selected to list available entities that you can pick prior to checking out. More information on the check-in/out procedures can be found in the "Guide to Application Development" OpenInsight manual.

We have seen this problem on an OI 3.6 system but were never able to track down the cause.

We've tried everything obvious that we could think of: different types of entities, Lock Entities checked or unchecked, etc. We tried rebooting OI and even rebooting Windows. None of these things helped.

I looked at an old posting from 4/98 by Oystein Reigem about a similar problem (see "No entity selected for checking-out"). In his case, Blaise at Rev asked him to "make sure that you have a BTREE index on APPUSERSTATUS on the SYSREPOSLOCKS file." I checked our SYSREPOSL0CKS file and we have the file but it contains no records. Is that a problem? If so, how do I rectify that?

Ivan,

Hi ..

Have you tried rebuilding the system indexes? I *believe* i did this when we had that problems (quite a while ago .. ) and it solved it.

Hope thats helps …

You know .. when working in OI sometimes you have to run up and down the hall waving your hands franticly in the air shouting .. 'Danger Will Robinson .. Danger'.

I think that was the way it was with my system.

I don't think so. My current SYSREPOSLOCKS is not empty, but all the rows have to do with previous check-outs. To get a situation more like yours I now even cleared the table (with run delete_row "SYSREPOSLOCKS", "*" - I have no important check-outs anyway), and I was still able to do checkouts afterwards.

Could there be something else wrong with your SYSREPOSLOCKS table? Did you check that index Blaise mentioned? Have you checked SYSREPOSLOCKS and !SYSREPOSLOCKS for GFE's?

Hey! I got it working. I just copied SYSREPOSLOCKS, DICT.SYSREPOSLOCKS and !SYSREPOSLOCKS in from another version of OI and now it works!

Thanks for the help. I think you got me thinking in the right direction.
