currently running AREV 2.12 on Novell with NLM. switching over to Citrix Metaframe Presentation server with Windows 2003 sp2. (both App and data will reside on server and will be launched from server).
I read on site that "….it must be noted that you will need to use a Revelation Network Product if you are not running OpenInsight or Advanced Revelation directly on the Terminal Server or Citrix Metaframe Server. " -
since it would be run directly on Citrix does it mean we won't need Windows 2000 Service? if that's the case how is record locking being handled? we tried two users accessing same record and second user did not get normal message "this lock is currently held by another station"… how can we make sure that no two edits are allowed simultaneously?
secondly when using Ctrl+F3, Shift+F1 etc on Citrix, it calls up Windows functions. any way to make it work for AREV?
thnx.

Sadhana,
1) If I understand well you're not talking about a Citrix server farm, just a single Citrix server, right? If this is the case, in order to perform any record locking you need either the Windows Service installed (centralized server based locking) or a properly installed network driver (ntvdm session based locking). For security, performance, etc. reasons I strongly suggest the first option.
2) The second issue is related to the default configuration of your Citrix client (i.e. the Program Neighborhood), which intercepts some of the keystrokes usually set for ARev. On each workstation you can open the Citrix Program Neighborhood -] click on the Tools menu -] ICA settings -] Hotkeys tab, there you'll find a list of keystrokes that eventually conflict with your application. You may change any of them as you wish (we actually just set ALL of them to (none)).
Hope it helps,
Stefano

thank you so much. this is a BIG help. I will check with tech team to make sure its not on Citrix server farm.
we did buy Windows 2000 Service so will try to install it.
Stefano, any special issue with Windows service installation we should be careful with?
