Why isn't there an ORIG_DEFPROP property?

Why they left it to you to save it yourself, of course .. just like to old AREV OREC .. the original data in the Read event isn't saved unless you do it yourself either.
It's one of the things that makes Windows development more expensive than tatty old DOS-AREV was.

Don,
My angle here is different. I have this set of windows I use for a QBF like search. Now I need a Clear or Reset button that will use some general programming to run through the controls containing the search criteria and put them back to their original state. The controls can have different types, like edit lines, edit tables and radio groups. The DEFPROP property works independent of control type. If there was an ORIG_DEFPROP I wouldn't have to have different programming for e.g edit lines and edit tables.

FWIW…
OI Windows Common includes the original primary record as read from file. A bit like Arev OREC. Using prompt I/Oconv property a field from this could be converted if necessary to display as used by DEFPROP.
Can't think of anything nearer to a DEFPROP_ORIG - aprt from GOTFOCUS_VALUE (which is a littel different).

Richard,
There's no record. The window's not bound.
There just are so many ORIG_properties, and I almost never had any use for them, and now that I needed one it didn't exist.
But it's no big deal.
