Thanks for responding to my AREV application on a DOS 6.22 PC using NT 4.0 question. This is how I understand your suggestions. Please verify if possible.

1.) I will use an NT 4.0 server (possibly 5.0)

2.) I will keep my AREV.EXE stored on the NT server

3.) I will keep my OINSIGHT.EXE stored on the same NT server

(10 Win98 workstations will also be sharing/updating same data)

4.) I will apply the NT service to the NT Server

5.) Is NPP applied to the AREV.EXE and OINSIGHT.EXE ?

6.) The NT client card in the DOS 6.22 terminals must be

compatible with a 3COM 3C509B NT card.

7.) Install the NT DOS client on each of the DOS 6.22 terminals

8.) Which network driver do I select from AREV.EXE ?

('All networks' I am told will be one of the options ?)

9.) Do you or anyone you know have positive results with AREV on

a DOS 6.22 PC (no Windows) using an NT 4.0 network ?

I will answer your queries in order.

Anything will do as long as the most recent service pack is installed.

2.) I will keep my AREV.EXE stored on the NT server

That?s what I do

3.) I will keep my OINSIGHT.EXE stored on the same NT server

I have little experience of Win98.

4.) I will apply the NT service to the NT Server

Good place to apply it. Make sure that you login as Administrator, set SYSTEM to have all rights to the OI and AREV folders, and that the revparam file is setup.

5.) Is NPP applied to the AREV.EXE and OINSIGHT.EXE ?

It might not be necessary for the OI system. If in doubt, do it anyway.

6.) The NT client card in the DOS 6.22 terminals must be

compatible with a 3COM 3C509B NT card.

This is my favourite card. It always works, it is one of the fastest 10BaseT cards available, and only costs about $50. Other 3Com models are more complex to install due to driver requirements. I have used lots of cards, and these ones have NEVER been any trouble. NE2000 cards are cheap for a reason!
