A Client has recently upgraded to Netware 5 and purchased the NLM 5 upgrade. They now have speed problems, batch processing previously taking 1.5hrs now takes 13hrs! Netware client verison is 4.81.

We have checked the NLM parameters and the workstation configuration as recommended in the NLM documentation etc. Are there any Netware/Novell Client settings which can have this drastic effect?

Prior to going live the server was set upo in a test configuration and performance was good but in the intervening months before going live something has changed…

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You didn't by any chance add virus checking without excluding .LK and .OV?

David,

Are you using Advanced Revelation or OpenInsight? Also, are we talking about an NT, Win2K, or XP workstation that is taking so long to process?

I am wondering if what you are seeing is part of the slowdowns associated with Windows 2000 and the Revelation NLM.

Kevin,

Sorry, missed the pertinent info from the posting!

The Application is ARev 3.12 and the clients are NT4 (sp6). what is really puzzling is that the same server performed well when the configuration was tested and now is a complete dog. Client IT say nothing has been changed on the server except the data and the NLM was re-loaded - I do not know why.
