Does anyone have software that can use caller id services to search the database and allow us to more quickly pull up customers?

What kind of SS7 interface would you be using? Something from a PBX? You have to have the ability to receive TCAP messages from the SS7 network and parse them into telephone numbers, which you would use for the database lookup. But if your PBX, or whatever CPE you are using has some kind of interface you can use, maybe something that spits out the arriving phone number, then you can use that. Otherwise you may have to stick with what you can get in your proprietary PBX services.

Jim,

You might want to check out a new book by Michael Bayer, called *CTI Solutions and Systems* at $39.95. (CTI stands for Computer Telephony Interface) From the review it sounds readable, and minimal knowledge of telephony is assumed. I don't know who the publisher is, but you can look at it at this URL:
