OpenEngine Index Updates (OpenInsight Specific)

Is their a way of lessening the impact of these "background" index updates. In other words, can these updates take less resources and allow me to continue with development in the foreground.
Are there parameters or some such which one can set?

You can certainly change the time frame between updates.
This is done in the DB manager -] Database -] Environment Management -] Indexes - Seconds before update.
This is a per application setting so you would need to set this for every application.

In a recent version, there was an improvement to the background indexing logic that would avoid the pauses in processing when indexes were not in need of updating.
