We are exploring the possibilities of creating an open ODBC compliant backend for our products. After looking at DataSets and Connections I am still unsure as to if this can do what we are after. Is it possible to create, update, delete and modify tables in a database using SQL scripts without the using any database-bound controls? Any help of this would be much appreciated.

In short yes it is possible for OI and Datasets to do this. In fact it is my preferred method.

See email.

Whilst it is possible to use DataSets for this, the system provides other tools which may be easier to pick up if you are fully SQL conversant. An example would be query objects. Check the online help under using QryInstance et al).
