Yes ..
However, you may have to fiddle a little to get EMS support.

It runs just fine for me - with 2 caveats.
Unable to resize the DOS window. The DOS window drives an LCD monitor that I bought absolutely nuts. Going to return monitor

Don,
Thank you. What settings for EMS are you using? I have an XP box w/ 256Mg of memory and ran a program and received an "exceeded 64k limit…out of memory" The same process runs fine on my 95/98 box. Any help would be appreciated.
My current Memory setting are
Conventional - Auto
Initial Environment - Auto
EMS - 4096
XMS - None (Uses HMA is checked)
MS-DOS protected mode (DPMI) - Auto
Thank You…

Curt,
Can you let me know how you have the properties set on the executable? That is, on the Memory tab what settings do you have set and what are the settings?
I am currently using the following:
Conv.Memory - Auto
Init. Env. - Auto
EMS - 4096
XMS - None w/ HMA box checked
DPM Memory - Auto
The command line is as follows: \AREV.exe NAME /X /M4096
The XP box is 2.4Ghz w/ 256Mg of Ram, etc.
Thanks
Daniel

You need to make sure of the size of your DOS process window. Go to a Command prompt and type MEM /C/P (to pause the display). You need at least 570K conventional memory available and EMS enabled.
I also run the program in it's own memory space. Make sure that the Exclusive box is NOT checked and the Suspend box is NOT checked (otherwise background processing won't happen if AREV is swapped out).
I also uncheck the Screen Saver and PrtScr items. You may have to fiddle the Idle Sensitivity slider until things run right.

Don,
Thanks for the information. I am still having problems editing a program and then opening a TCL command line and using the PAINT utility. I receive the "not enough string space…out of memory error." Here is a screen print of the memory config; it appears to be okay. There is over 600k in conventional memory. Thank You for your time.

I note that you don't have any EMS memory, just XMS which can't be used by AREV. Therefore the /XM4096 parameter in the command line has no effect. You should also check your CONFIG.NT to make sure it has sufficient file handles (I use 200). Sometimes running AREV in compatibility mode (Win98) helps, although not having EMS can cause an out of memory condition if you're attaching large subdirectory structures.

Don,
Thank you. In your previosu response you mentioned turning EMS on. Everything I've seen for XP tells me that it does not use EMS. How did you turn it on for your PC?

Daniel,
In the config.nt file:
EMM=RAM
Worked for me. In fact I find that after Installing my Novel client with the 'IPX only' method in custom install, It works just as well as 95/98.
Hope this helps.

Kevin,
Thank You. I have done that, however, I am still receiving the error message…"PAINTFILE Line 1 B28Not enough string space - Out of Memory"
Line 1 RTP18 broke because of a runtime error
Is it possible that the hardware of this PC just won't support EMS?
thank you
Daniel

As a matter of fact it is possible. I could not EMS to work on a Dell notebook running XP pro. No matter what I tried, same result. A further suggestion: try running 'EMM386 auto' from a dos prompt. Thus will confirm whether EMM will work at all or not. Sorry I could not be of any real help.
Good luck
