The Setup for OIPI fails with a conflict program. Tried Manual Installation by Extract .. Copy.

The REGSVR command for Win2K fails .. can't find source file.

Where should the DLL's be copied for Win2K? (WINNT\SYSTEM32 or what)

Do the REGSVR commands need to be changed?

TIA

I have done a manual install of OIPI (3.x & 4.x) on both Windows 2000 (Professional, Server and Advanced Server) and Windows XP (Professional) without a hitch.

The allowed usage for regsvr.exe is very basic and is as follows:

Usage: regsvr /u /s dllname

     /u - Unregister Server
/s - Silent; Display no messages

What version of OIPI are you using? are the dll's 16 or 32bit? Do you have enough rights on the machine to alter system files?

Forgot if you are install a 16bit version of OIPI the files would go in the 'WINNT\SYSTEM' folder, but if it is a 32bit version then use the 'WINNT\SYSTEM32' folder

Please correct me if I am wrong!

Don,

What's the conflicting program? Can't you just close the program before you install the OIPI? Or is it a different kind of conflict?

Oystein ..

It would be lovely if the SETUP program indicated what the conflicting program is! The only choice is to go to Task Manager and close the tasks one at a time until the SETUP runs properly.

Don,

That's true. Unless it's one of the obvious ones, like the Office Menu.

Btw - once I had this problem at a client's there were two similar computers where the OIPI installation ran OK on one computer but not on the other. I got them to send me screen dumps of the two computers' Applications and Processes. The problematic program was among the items that only occurred on the problematic computer.
