In the Airline World, the ALC P1024B Mainframe Protocol is used to transport messages from the Mainframe Host to the Airline Terminals. I have been told that this is a synchronous protocol. Cisco is in the process of encapsulating this Protocol into TCP/IP or MATIP on the Airline Networks (SITA & ARINC) via their routers. This would also provide LAN interfacing. Lanyon, Novus and Inosys produce gateway cards that will produce a session IA, TA (Interchange Address,Terminal Address) for interfacing with an Airline Host System. The challenge is how to get AREV to gain control of that session. Has anyone found some hardware or software that has been used to successfully interface AREV or AREV Terminal Emulation to control a mainframe terminal session on a mainframe hosts?

I remember a bunch of people using PC/NSF to access Unix boxes. In theory, any DOS terminal emulation program that will respect locking according to the MS-DOS 3.1 networking standards will work. In practice, your milage may vary.
