We have recently deployed NT workstations which are connecting to a Novell 3.12 server via IPX with the NLM loaded. We are having several problems when the NT workstations are running AREV, it causes all users to 'Lock up' on the Novell server. We have checked all PIF settings as recommended. Help !! The problem is holding up production !

Darrel,

To review the PIF settings, make sure that the Always Suspend is NOT checked, that Allow screen saver is NOT checked. Be sure that the frame type is set correctly for the IPX protocol. Also check to make sure the TSR is being run from the Autoexec of that particular PIF (the Windows NT button on the Program Tab), and check out any other pecularities that might exist in those autoexec and config files.

If the lockups happen right after or shortly after login, see if they still happen if you go to a command prompt, manually start the TSR and then AREV. Try it both with CMD.exe and COMMAND.exe

If you are not using Novell's client32, I also recommend you download and install the latest version of it.
