Where can I get detail info on Advanced Revelation database (Tech. info) and how does it compare to other common database systems such as say foxpro?

Saul,

First, contact Revelation Technologies, Inc. for tech information.

As for comparisons between Arev and foxpro .. there really aren't any.

Arev is simply THE most powerful database application frame work available in the dos world. The database is a hybrid of the 'PICK' data structures with vast improvements on dictionary based processing for data validation and conversion.

The tools are possibly the richest set of tools you will find in the dos world.

But be warned .. Arev is not for the faint of heart. In all reviews it was consistently placed in the tops for ability AND in the tops for complexity. You can do simple things easily BUT basically the whole of the system is there for anything you need to do.

I would suggest working with it for a while and come up with questions which we can then address.

David is quite right in his answer!

I use AREV since November 1987 and found after a search of more than two years.

These are very strong facts :

- It is flexible also after years of use

- Building and maintaining systems that are rapidly changing is much cheaper than with more standard products

- You should invest some time in it ot understand how it works and then you will love it.

There are lots of AREV developers who use the Revelation productline for more than 10 years.

I came from a Dataflex environment and never touched that product again. You might experience the same.

Good luck
