EMM386, Win95 errors (AREV Specific)

Help!!
My company has been using AREV for 3+ years running Windows 3.1, AREV 3.12 w/ NLM, and Novell 3.12 with no problems on 15 workstations. Recently, we swapped out half of our Compaq 486/33's with clones made by Tiger using Cyrix 200+. No problems occurred with the new machines at that point.
Then I installed Windows 95 on one workstation and suddenly the other Tiger workstations developed the following error when exiting AREV:
"EMM386 has detected error #06 in an application at memory address 00B8:0BB9. EMM386 has halted your computer, shutdown…". The older Compaq workstations had no errors, but the Win95 workstation went into extremely slow motion, processing every 30 seconds.
Next, I decided to install Win95 on the remaining Tiger workstations. After several hours of installation I upgraded all the new workstations. Everything seemed fine for an hour. Then the Tiger workstations went into slow motion at different time. The old Compaq workstations still had no problems.
I tried setting up the AREV shortcuts according the the Revelation FAQ and tried following all the suggestions in these discussion notes, but ultimately uninstalled Win95 on all workstations.
Now I am back to Windows 3.1 but am still getting the above EMM386 error message, and some workstations are losing their network connections!
Does anyone know of a conflict with Tiger/Cyrix workstations?
Any sugestions to how to get these problems resolved?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running any Compaq software on the Tigers? Stuff shipped with Compaqs will not run on any other hardware.

Aaron,
Thanks for responding. When I originally set up the new Tigers, I copied the Compaq hard drives to the network, then copied all files (except DOS but including Windows 3.1), back to the new Tiger workstations. It is possible that there are Compaq utilities and or programs still on the Tigers. There is a CPQDOS subdirectory that got copied back to the new workstations.
I can't think of anything that specifically gets loaded when the systems are booted up. What do I need to look for to remove?
Would the recent upgrade to the NLM help?
Again, thanks for the help.

Trouble is, it could be anything. Most likely, it's something in Windows, like HIMEM or something. Trouble is, you've installed Win95, which hopefully got away from that stuff.
Any little nibble you could toss my way?

HIMEM? It is possible that this was still in the config.sys file after upgrading to Win95. Could that be the/a problem?
I am a CPA be trade, computer person by default. So I am not as technical as most AREV programmers. With Win95, what would that typical config.sys and autoexec.bat files contain for workstations using AREV?
I think I solved the problem with losing the network connections. I reinstalled the NIC programs from the original setup disks and so far I have had no problems (for a half a day anyway). I feel Win95 may have replaced the original programs with older/different versions.
I am still worried about the EMM386 errors if I try Win 95 again. I might need to find someone to tackle this project for me. Know anybody in the Houston area that is good at this kind of troubleshooting?
I will be out of town 3/15 - 3/22 but will check back after that.
Again, thanks for the help.

Take a look at the ARev FAQ for some info on configuring your machine.
Win95 is pretty weird. You might need to add in stuff for CONFIG.SYS and you might not, it all depends on which slipstreamed version you have. I usually create one since I want to up my file handles, but that's me.

Try and see if you can find Byron Shindler. He's based in Houston, I think, and is a great ARev/OI resource. One of the best out there.
