Comparing W98 and WXP (Arev 3.12) (AREV Specific)

I have instaled 4.83 SP2 client on XP machine now.
When running the same program on W98 and on WXP, it runs 20-60 times faster on W98. Is it a common problem?

Did you have "Yield Time to Windows" set as "Yes" in your AREV 3.12?
What if the program is run from a local drive on both machines? (i.e. no network client in the mix)
Have you disabled write-behind caching on the W98 box?
For the comparison to be valid, you have to make the oranges and apples as similar as possible.

I hope I did it, but I will check it for sure. Thanks

The XP one is notebook, where I have instaled W98 before and it performed well at that time. The W98 one is 10 times slower but minitower. When run in local environment, the notebook behaves well.
I don't want to compare oranges with oranges by experiments like:
loop
reinstall the notebook, run the test,
repeat

thanks for hints

I also have a client who is having speed issues with XP/2000 on Novell 6.5 while using AREV 3.12.
We devised the following test: (results are in seconds)
1000 writes
W98=.22
W2k=8.51
WXP=27.14
1000 deletes
W98=.17
W2k=7.8
WXP=25.98
This was performed using client 4.91SP1. The test was repeated with 4.83sp2 with similar results.
Obviously not at all encouraging…
