I've been seeing a lot of talk around here about JRev. This all sounds very exciting if I were involved in the Web, but I'm not. I don't here anything about a 32 byte release of OIS4W. Is there nothing in the works (not WORKS!)? is 16 byte OIS4W a dead end or is there a future here? We've had a 32 byte operating system since '95 and I don't see anything on the horizon. Is anyone from Revelation listening and if so can you enlighten me as to where OIS4W is going.

OI will evolve into jRev by releases on the Works platform, so OI will become a 32bit environment. This is not an AREV-]OI jump, more a gradual evolution….

JRev IS the 32 bit OI4W. Java does not mean that we can only develop applications for the Web. Rather, we would build applications that work on regular Windows as well as on the Web.
Since JRev will keep intact Basic+ , LH and should be able to automatically convert the existing forms over (as far as I can tell so far), I definitely agree with Andrew that it is an upgrade rather than a drastic change.
Also JRev will finally free us from the 64K barrier and enable direct communication with other 32 bit sources, not to mention the ability to integrate 3rd party Beans in your application. No more re-inventing the wheel!
The only question is: Will Java be a mature enough environment in a year to do everything we need to do? It certainly is not right now, but it is getting better every day…
