I am trying to open a Arev table in OI. It will not let me do any thing with it because it says "error loading program auditlog.mfs" . Can I simply create a blank MFS of the same name in OI that would be run when I try to access this Arev table that I added through the database manager. If so can some one help me as too how this can be done.

Thanks

Alan

I'm with Andrew in thinking that the best solution is to use the existing MFS from your AREV application.

For that, add the OBJECT table (not SYSOBJ as Andrew suggested) of your ARev app to OI by using Database Manager.

Then go to System Editor and use the COPY_ROW routine to copy the $AUDITLOG.MFS from OBJECT to SYSOBJ still under $AUDITLOG.MFS .

This will provide OI with the same executable as AREV. The only other thing you might have to do is to attach the tables that AUDITLOG.MFS is using (you might want to attach all the tables of your Arev app at if the detective work gets too tedious here!)

Now if this doesn't work for you, post your email address here and I will send you some MFS program code from my application. I have to recommend though that you try keeping the existing MFS if at all possible, just in case it does things that might break your application if not performed.

Good Luck

I don't know lad, maybe it's Valentine's day, but I think you misread my posting!

Of course the compiled code goes INTO Sysobj.

However your MFS will more than likely be in the Arev application's OBJECT table. Therefore copy FROM Arev's Object and into OI's ( coincidence ) Sysobj.

Whoops - yes and no. We normally copy Arev $MFS to Sysobj or verbs but your point about bringing it across is very valid!

Ok Andrew,

So we both get brownie points! I just hope all this helped Howard with his problem.

Strangely enough I was at a site yesterday who _didn't_ copy their MFSs to Sysobj and every time I attached a different VOC the system crashed with "Unable to load XYZ mfs".

I copied all their MFSs to Sysobj…
