I used the change-password command to change the password

in as sysprog and get to the secure application menu.

How do I do this?

Thanks in advance.

For password encryption and removal, it might be best to contact Revelation Software directly. They can walk you through the screens you need and can validate that you actually have access to the system you are trying to modify.

I hope you understand the position. It's not that we don't trust you, but security is in there for a purpose and we really shouldn't just give out methods of by-passing it just because somebody asked.

All well and good, however I am not about to pay
a lot of money for a question that isn't related
to 'breaking' in to the program, just removing the
password. I can already login as sysprog and why
would anything past that be a security issue?
Thank you for your advice, but no thank you.

Carmen,

If you are simply trying to modify the password using existing tools, not trying to bypass security, the procedure is well documented in the manuals. You must be in the SYSPROG account and call the SECUREUSER window. You pull up the user record you wish to change, make what changes need making and then press F9.

If that fails to do the job, you can always deleted the user and create a new one from SYSPROG.

I'm curious, though. If you have access to SYSPROG, why do you want to remove your password? That makes your very vulnerable. I would suggest that only for single user applications or a few other instances where there is 0 concern for security.

Oops. I just read your original post and noticed you were referring to application passwords and not user passwords. My concern remains, and my advice is generally the same. The manual describes two ways of changing the password. It's on page 70 of the user's guide (assuming you are using version 3.0 or later).
