Problems running AREV on Windows 95 workstations (AREV Specific)

Our company is running an AREV (3.11) application on
a Novell 4.11 server. We have recently upgraded many
workstations to Windows 95, and things have gone very
well. We are running a 25 user system.
One problem with AREV running on a Windows 95
workstation:
If we run a long process (an RLIST report or a program
involving a search that takes a long time to run), and
the process is run while AREV is minimized, most of the
time AREV freezes on that workstation before the
process is completed. I am speaking of processes that
take 45 minutes or more to complete.
If we run the same processes when AREV is not minimized,
they run fine.
Another anomaly:
When running AREV processes while AREV is minimized,
sometimes other applications become really slow, or
don't react correctly to keystrokes. Moving back and
forth from AREV to other apps, one sees the keystroke,
slowness in reaction is going on with AREV too. This
doesn't seem to happen to everyone, just particular
workstations.
Has anyone else had similar circumstances? Is this a
common problem? Is there a solution?
Have others had success with running processes in AREV
with AREV minimized?
Thanks for any help or comments.

Right click on the AREV /MSDOS Icon. Then Left click on properties.
Under MISC check to be sure the "Always suspend" checkbos is
NOT checked. Make sure in the properties box
you have the proper amount of expanded memory
reserved, usually 4096.

Thanks, Bob.
We had Always suspend? checked correctly, but not
EMS. Hope this corrects the problem, haven't
verified that yet. But am glad to get the shortcut
configured correctly regardless.

SOUNDS LIKE the same problem in NT. AREV pushes processor utilization to 100% flat. Can't do much else and eventually system hangs.

Try using Novell Client 32. We were finding that PC's were hanging without it.
Also, to reduce processor utilization, from TCL, type RUNMENU HARDWARE, select HARDWARE, and ensure that "Yield Time To Windows" is enabled. This will reduce the processor utilization to 2 or 3% when idle.
