We have been struggling with a speed problem at one of our user sites who has our RevG application installed on an NT network. Some processes were taking up to 30 seconds to execute compaired to a fraction of a second if run in a stand alone mode from the local C drive. After some research the Network administrator at the user site discovered if he disabled Norton Antivirus 2000 the problem went away!

Does any one have an explaination for this?

REVG thinks LNK files are data files

NORTON thinks that LNK files are WINDOWS desktop shortcuts, and worth scanning.

Hence the contention - the file suffix on your data looks to Norton like the type of file which should be protected.

Disable Norton over your REVG volume. Perform a programmatic check upon application startup the REV.EXE and any other EXEs or COMs in your application are the same size. If they vary then log out or REVg immediately.

This will suffice in your setting.
