Has anybody used s44hook.com that allows Arev to run on a win95 peer to peer network. Having problem with win98 station (trashes sysobj).

No snide comments please, I had nothing to do with setting up this system. Just trying to help a user that loves their custom Arev app.

Okay, first off S44hook was written to run with Win95 and I don't know how it works with Win98. Don't really know why it wouldn't but it IS Windows, after all.

Second, S44hook needs to be installed as a TSR on the Server ONLY to allow the server to be used as a workstation. It shouldn't affect any other workstation that signs onto the server. No real reason to put it on a workstation at all.

All it does it report back to Rev that the local drives are network devices and allows the Rev running on the server to respond properly to locking calls of itself and everybody else.

I'm not sure whether you were using S44hook or not but it shouldn't (can't really) affect SYSOBJ or any other file, for that matter. I have been using it for close to 2 years with no problems and have passed it around to a dozen or so folk with positive results.

There are some caveats and considerations, mostly about disk caching, to think about. If there is a problem, I really would like to know.

If you ain't got a copy, want one? Contact me directly and I'll get it to you.
