Hi,

We have a few clients who need to print reports which contain more then 1000 pages.

We recently introduced the print page range selection and now the printing stops at page 1000. (Before the page range was introduced they had no problem.)

We do not want to limit this or introduces batch printing.

Has anyone had this and found a solution?

In eager anticipation.

We would initially posit a Virtual Memory/Swap space limitation. Try increasing the amount of virtual memory available.

Before we start playing around with settings can you please explain why this would be the problem now when there was no problem before we added the page selection option?

I believe it is an OIPI problem since the page range dialog only allows up to 3 digits (ie 999) as well.

By the way we are using OIPI 4.01 Prof

Possibly because when you use page range selection the output is being cached.

When I use page range selection in Foxpro there is an inordinate amount of disk I/O, much more than if simply printing the entire report straight.

Hi Carl,

I cannot see anything that would cause this problem with the OIPI. I would strongly suggest getting the latest VSPRINT7.OCX from ComponentOne (www.componentone.com go to the download page and get the VSView 7.0 Classic Edition), and also try installing the latest printer drivers on this client's computer.

Just to verify that I understand this issue, here are a few questions:

1. If the number of pages is 999 or less, does the OIPI print the page range OK?

2. Does the same report with ] 1000 pages print OK when the 5th value of the 1st field of the 5th parameter (AllowPageRange) of the INIT message is set to 0? This will print all pages.

3. What happens when you try to print a report with the page range? Does it work if you specify a small page range (like from page 1 to page 2), or does it only fail when you try to print all pages? When it fails, does it print anything? Does it ever show up in the printer queue?

Tony
