REVELATION (AREV Specific)

Thanks for your immediate response to my questions.
I am new to Revelation and I am having trouble accessing the data
and the structure of the DB. The database resides on the network and I have access to it, but I'm not sure if I need to install anything locally on my machine in order to get to this data. Utilities such as PDISK and LIST do not work on my machine and I'm not sure it is because I don't have them installed locally.

Sounds like you need some Revelation expertise and help that is far beyond what can be done in these message exchanges, but I'll try to get you started and pointed.
First of all, AREV needs to be running at a workstation on your network. If you are lucky, there will be a station on your network that is already running, or set up to run, the Revelation application in which you are interested. Check around for startup icons, .pif files, batch files, etc. If you can get the system running you will have saved a lot of setup work.
If you need to start from scratch, find the directory on your network that contains AREV.EXE. Make this the default directory at your workstation and then run AREV.EXE. If you are prompted for a password, try "sysprog". If you are lucky and have no password problems, you will get AREV going at a system level. Thee next step will be to get the application under AREV running. Select Application-Open on the menu, then press F2 for a picklist and cross your fingers. If you are lucky (unlikely), the application will start up and you are on your way.
If you start from scratch and can't get the application going (likely), you need to examine the SYSENV, VOC, etc files to figure out how the application is organized, structured, mapped, etc. To do these things you need to read the manuals and understand how Revelation works, or you need to get some expert help. It may be possible for someone to help you remotely.
Good luck

Kalpana,
It sounds like Jay Fox has given you something to get started with. If you get stuck, post where, and what happened when you got stuck. I'm sure someone here can provide you with some assistance.
Do you have any idea what version of Arev you are working with? Probably the best start is to find the location of arev.exe. If you are running on a Novell network, the PDISK command will not function correctly to a NETWORK drive. Try setting the destination to your local C: drive, or a diskette drive. I'm not sure if this applies to WinNT as well, or not.

You might want to explain the nature of the problem. ARev needs nothing stored on local machine.
