I'm revising a current data entry screen and I'm down to the last few lines. I keep getting "Not Enough String Space - Out of memory".
Anyone have any ideas how to correct. I'm running Windows XP Sp3.
Thanks

As it basically means you are out of string space (low memory) you have to increase the memory available to AREV. Ensure you are launching with /X /M4096 and ensure that _default.pif has Expanded Memory available.
Do a WHO at TCL to verify that you do have expanded memory.

Thanks, when I type WHO I get "Expanded Memory Inactive".
The Shortcut Reads:
Conventional Memory:
Total - Auto
Initial Environment - Auto
Expanded EMS Memory - None
Extended XMS - 4096
Use HMA
MS-DOS Protected - Auto
Thanks

You don't want XMS you want EMS.

Thanks, I changed to EMS and I still get "Expanded Memory=Inactive"
Do you think it's my PC or BIOS?
Thanks for any help on this. I have a large data entry screen with 195 prompts split on 2 entry screens. I wanted to get all the information about a product on one window with a page down.

If you can't get EMS working following the steps outlined above get and install EMS Magic

Thanks Warren. I followed the link and it keeps re-directing me somewhere else for EMS. Even when I try to download and buy. Is there another place I can go to either download or purchase this product?
Thanks again for all your help. I did move AREV to another PC and was able to make the changes I needed to my entry screen. But I would like to root cause the problem on my development PC. Which is is a PowerSpec with 4GB of memory and lots of free disk space.

I have no problems with the EMS Magic links. It could be a browser, cookie, or firewall problem. Try a different browser.

The short answer: Time and Money
Given the state of the economy with revenues down in most sectors it is difficult for businesses, many small to mid-sized to invest in new hardware, operating systems and licensing models as well as the time, materials and resources needed to do the conversion.
