Our client is running OI 4.13 with the patches for V119 and btree, NT Service 2.1, and 98SE, 2000, and XP workstations. We upgraded the client to 4.13 (from 4.11) a couple of months ago after they were experiencing multiple index corruptions. They haven't had index corruptions since, but now are occasionally receiving "SYS1000 - error loading rev_loadrec" on the 98 workstations. When this error occurs it sometimes locks the whole system up and the other users are unable to log in - they are locked up after the logon logo appears. Rebooting the server alleviates the problem until the SYS1000 error appears again. I tried switching the client to a mixed protocol on the NT service, but the lock-ups occurred more frequently. So we switched them back down to named pipes only. We have another client running the same environment but they do not experience any of these issues. The only difference between the clients is that the client with the lock-ups has their network drive shared out with a "$" so it is hidden. When we upgraded to 4.13, the 98 workstation's could no longer log into the application with the drive letter shortcut. We had to change the shortcuts to the UNC path to work. The client does have about 5 terminal services clients and we are appending the time to the @station on login. We tried appending the @username but it was appending "SYSPROG" instead of the user id so we are using time until we have a better solution. Any ideas of what might be wrong here? Anyone else have a network drive shared out with a $ sign?

Thanks, Sandra D'Angelo

Sandra,

The first thing is the SYS1000 Rev_Loadrec error is normally due to some sort of network problems. I think you'll find an improvement if you stop using the 98 clients.

Try that to start with and see what happens.

They are in the process of replacing the 98's but it will take some time. They have been running the product for 2 years without any problems so why are the 98's a problem now. I have another client running 98's with the same version of OI 4.13 without any problems either. I do realize that the SYS1000 using indicating a network problem but they haven't made any network changes recently. Thanks for the repsonse though. - Sandra
