Disappearing vertical scrollbars (None Specified)

In several different windows now I have found that some vertical scrollbars as part of edit-tables show up fine when building the window, but disappear when viewing, either immediately or when data is entered in the table. Not all, just some. I might have three or four in a page, and one or two will disappear. Deleting and re-inserting the controls makes no difference. What's the problem? Is there a "vertical scrollbar limit"?

[notag]Verical scrollbars only display when needed by default. To make them appear permanently doubleclick the control then choose "More" and check "Vertical Scroll Bar".

Okay, so when there are more entries in an edit table than can be seen, the vertical scroll bar appears (duhhh). But enabling it in the MORE window of the control properties does not always make it permanently visible, ie in an empty edit table. Sometimes it is there with the edit table empty and sometimes it is not. I can't work out the logic: when is it permanently visible and when only when putting in more info than can be seen? PS: it is the little hassles in life that can be truly irritating. Here are my observations: An edit table has a number of rows. Since the control has a limited height not all of them might be visible. The scrollbar is only visible as long as the edit table has more rows than can be visible at the same time. Try to create an edit table with Vert. Scroll Bar ticked and default settings for the rest. You get an edit table that can show 3 rows. Do a test run. The scroll bar shows. Browse up and down with the arrow keys. You notice the edit table has been created with 4 initial rows - all empty. You can enter data in the 4 rows and the scroll bar stays. You can insert new rows and the scroll bar stays. But once you delete rows and the number drops to 3 or less the scroll bar disappears. (Except when you delete the 4th and last row you get a temporary all blank line that takes up space so the scroll bar stays until you browse or scroll.) If you insert new rows again so the number increases beyond 3 the scroll bar appears again. You will also get an edit table without a scroll bar if you explicitly set the Row limit (another More setting) low enough (3 or lower in the example above) (Vert. Scroll Bar still ticked). Then the edit table will start out with so few rows they are all visible. Once you insert enough rows the scroll bar appears. If you don't tick Vert. Scroll Bar you don't get a scroll bar no matter how many rows you insert. Correction to the above: You cannot insert rows beyond the limit. So of course the scroll bar never appears again. Jo - if it's very important to have the scroll bar at all times you might try and keep the number of rows up programmatically. Once the user deletes too many rows you programmatically add empty rows at the end. Duh. - Oystein - </QUOTE> View this thread on the Works forum...
